Little Hooves Challenge Checklist

The Little Hooves Challenge is for kids aged 10 and under, featuring 20 different activities:
  • Meet and greet: Introduce the child to a friendly horse, allowing them to gently pet and interact with it under supervision.
  • Pony ride: Offer a short, guided pony ride on a gentle and well-trained pony.
  • Horse grooming: Teach the child how to groom a horse by providing a soft brush and showing them how to brush the horse's coat. This can be either a real horse or stuffed animal.
  • Horse-themed coloring: Provide horse-themed coloring pages and crayons for the child to color.
  • Stick horse race: Set up a mini obstacle course and have the child participate in a stick horse race. Pool noodles make excellent stick horses.
  • Horseshoe toss: Create a horseshoe toss game using plastic or foam horseshoes.
  • Horse-themed craft: Help the child create a horse-themed craft, such as a paper plate horse or a horse mask.
  • Storytime with horses: Read a horse-themed storybook to the child, discussing the illustrations and the plot.
  • Horse puzzle: Provide a horse puzzle for the child to assemble, helping them develop problem-solving skills.
  • Horse sounds game: Play a game where the child has to identify different horse sounds, such as neighing or galloping.
  • Horse dress-up: Set up a dress-up station with horse masks, hats, and accessories for the child to pretend to be a horse.
  • Horse-themed snack: Prepare a horse-themed snack, such as carrot sticks or apple slices, for the child to enjoy.
  • Horse-themed music and dance: Play horse-themed music and encourage the child to dance and move like a horse.
  • Horse anatomy lesson: Use a horse anatomy poster to teach the child about different parts of a horse's body (ex. head, leg, tail and mane).
  • Horse-themed memory game: Create a memory game using horse-themed pictures or cards.
  • Horse-themed sensory bin: Create a sensory bin with hay, toy horses, and other horse-related items for the child to explore.
  • Horse-themed yoga: Guide the child through simple horse-themed yoga poses, such as the "horse pose" or the "extended cat pose."
  • Horse-themed counting game: Use pictures of horses to help the child practice counting and number recognition if needed. Then make a collage with the pictures.
  • Horse obstacle course: Set up a mini obstacle course using cones, poles, and/or tunnels for the child to navigate like a horse.
  • Horse-themed scavenger hunt: Hide horse-related items or pictures around a designated area and have the child find them.
